Bouton Street Fire Leaves Nine Adults, Two Children Homeless

The fire at about 6:30 p.m. in South Norwalk made a multi-family house unlivable; the American Red Cross is helping the families.

Homes for nine people in five families were lost in a Wednesday evening fire at 8 Bouton St., but there were no injuries, according to news reports, including one on WFSB-TV.

Flames were coming out of first-floor windows when firefighters arrived at the scene just before 6:30 p.m. By 7 p.m., the fire was considered under control, but hot spots occasionally flared for the next couplle of hours, according to The Hour.

A total of 25 firefighters responded at the scene.

The American Red Cross is helping 11 people – nine adults and two children in five families – with emergency needs after a fire Wednesday on Bouton Street in Norwalk.

  • A family of two adults received help with housing, food and clothing needs.
  • A family of three adults and two children received help with food and clothing needs.
  • Six adults and two children in three families received help with food and clothing needs.
  • One adult received help with clothing needs.

Red Cross volunteers Paul Keagan, Angela McCabe and Mike Vincelli responded to assist the families.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.
