Ziggy, a Scotti-Poo is Available for Adoption!

Ziggy, who is most-likely a one and half year old Scottish Terrier - Poodle mix is being fostered locally and is available for adoption.

Almost two weeks ago while volunteering at the Mt. Vernon Animal Shelter I fell for an adorable pair of muddy brown eyes hiding behind a mass of black curls.  Ziggy was cowering in the back of a crate where he had been placed the night before when he was dropped off by a police officer who responded to calls about a loose dog.

Nobody claimed Ziggy so the following Saturday I brought him to the vet for a quick check up and rabies shot and then to an adoption event at Petco.  The kind folks at Petco gave Ziggy a bath and removed most of the mats from his overgrown coat.  He was a little too timid to do a complete grooming, but we were able to make some progress and hopefully make him a little more comfortable.

In the week since he has been vetted and neutered and had time to decompress from the stress of the shelter.  He is now ready to move into his forever home.

Ziggy is a seventeen pound happy dog who gets along well with other dogs, and has been appropriate when introduced to cats.  He is sometimes shy when meeting new people, but seems to be outgrowing that.  Ziggy is an exciteable pup who will do best in a calmer home with someone who will continue the training and structure I have been providing.  The ideal home for Ziggy will be one where an adult is home most of the day and any children are middle school or older.  Ziggy is crate-trained and is learning to sit quietly in the car.

In addition to Ziggy, Cat Assistance has other dogs including Boscoe a 5 - 7 year old male Llaso Apso and Rocky, an overweight 4 year old male Puggle (Pug - Beagle mix).

Of course, they also have cats and kittens available for adoption, including Phantom, a young male Snowshoe mix who is also being fostered in Greenwich.
