Broken? Fix It! Grand Opening

SATURDAY, September 26, 2015, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Stepping Stones Museum for Children is excited to announce the Grand Opening of a new, thought-provoking traveling exhibit entitled, Broken? Fix It! scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Broken? Fix It, created by the Long Island Children’s Museum and currently part of a two-year national tour, promotes cross-generational learning, and teaches young visitors the satisfaction of fixing objects that are broken. In this hands-on exhibit designed to encourage problem solving and critical thinking skills, all ages will learn how to make simple repairs on everyday items including flat bicycle tires, broken dishes and dolls in need of patches. Children and adults will work together to diagnose the problem and determine a repair process. Informational videos, proper tools, materials and resources are available to guide the diagnostics and repair method. Special attractions include the Truth Booth which is a conversational area that addresses the emotional aspects of breaking things. In the Truth Booth, visitors can confess accidental breaks from their past.

Broken? Fix It! will be on view at Stepping Stones Museum for Children from September 26-December 31. The U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services is a national sponsor; traveling exhibits are presented locally by Xerox Foundation.
