Building 'Unfit For Occupancy' Following Fire In Norwalk: FD

Fire officials said multiple rooms had extensive fire damage and others were damage by heat and smoke.

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Fire Department responded to Soundview Avenue for a reported structure fire Sunday, officials said. According to a press release, firefighters arrived to find the third floor apartment "well involved" with fire.

Firefighters stretched two hose lines to the third floor of the building to extinguish the flames, officials said.

"Multiple rooms had extensive fire damage and two other were damage by heat and smoke," Deputy Chief Albe Bassett said in a release. "The second and first floor apartments suffered water damage."

According to Bassett, no injuries were reported and the structure was posted unfit for occupancy. The Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
