The Remembrance Parade
The Cannon Ridge Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is pleased to invite you to the Remembrance Parade featuring Gold's Dragoons, The Governor's Horse Guards and Mt. Kisco Scottish Pipe and Drum Corps. &nbsp;This America 250 commemoration honors the Patriots and veterans who supported the cause of American independence, and remembers the sacrifices made at the Battle of Ridgefield. The Parade is free and open to all. &nbsp;We encourage everyone in our community to join as we pause to reflect on our shared American history during the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.&nbsp;
The parade will commence at 12 noon on April 25th from Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church on Main Street ending at the Battle of Ridgefield memorial plaque in Ballard Park with a wreath laying ceremony honoring:
Patriots and Veterans who supported American Independence, particularly at the Battle of Ridgefield &nbsp;
Lieutenant Colonel Abraham Gould, a Gold's Dragoon killed during the Battle of Ridgefield&nbsp;
British troops buried on the battlefield who fell in honorable service to their King
The sold out Black Tie Remembrance Ball will commence at 6pm in the Lounsbury House.&nbsp;

All are welcome to join our congregation this Sunday as we welcome guest preacher Rev. Lindasusan&nbsp;Ulrich, who will preach on the theme "When Hope is An Act of Bravery."In a time when despair always sits waiting for us, we practice bravery every time we remember possibility and look towards hope — and particularly when we do so together.
Rev. Lindasusan Ulrich (they/them) is a minister, writer, musician, and activist dedicated to radical inclusion, deep collaboration, and courageous kindness. Rev. Lindasusan has served congregations in Connecticut, Michigan, and Minnesota; is a certified spiritual director; and currently serves as a member of the Ministerial Fellowship Committee. They identify as a nonbinary bisexual person of color.+++ All are always welcome to our Unitarian Universalist services at UU Westport, offered each Sunday at 10 AM, both in person and <a href="https://uuwestport.org/livestream/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">live-streamed online</a>. Services usually include a time of reflection/prayer/meditation; wonderful music; readings; and a homily or sermon to lend insight into our world and how we interact with it and with each other. The <a href="https://uuwestport.org/mission-statement/about-our-ministers-2/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Rev. Carlton E. Smith</a> presides over our time together that includes participation from multiple congregants, guests, and friends. UConn Extension, in partnership with the New Canaan Conservation Commission, is offering reduced-cost well water testing for residents of Fairfield County and surrounding areas. <a href="https://www.ctpublic.org/news/2024-07-18/rural-towns-in-ct-arent-testing-their-well-water-enough-this-program-is-trying-to-change-that" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Even if your water looks and tastes fine, it may not be safe to drink.</a>
A comprehensive well water test, normally valued at $350, is available for $235 (cash or check). Tests include coliform bacteria, lead, arsenic, uranium, nitrates, sodium, chloride, fluoride, pH, hardness, sulfate, turbidity, iron, and manganese.

The event will be held at The Piedmont Club on Saturday, May 2. Doors open at 6 pm, dinner is served at 6:30 and the band performs from 7 to 10 pm.
Trachten/dirndls/lederhosen (German Oktoberfest garments) are recommended but not required. Come dressed ready to have a great party.
