Norwalk Hospital to honor patients who died in 2024 with memorial ceremony

Norwalk Hospital will host its annual Service of Remembrance for families of patients who died this past year at the hospital. “It will be an opportunity for people to recall their loved ones in community with others who have suffered loss”, said Rev. Debra Slade, Senior Director of Spiritual Care at Norwalk Hospital. The hospital’s chaplains will be available to offer support and care.

This memorial program will feature music by pianist Chaplain Janine Thwaite and harpist Chaplain Annie Hartigan, candle lighting during the reading of names, and more. With this service, Rev. Debra Slade said, “We hope to provide support for those who grieve their loved ones and recognition of the time they spent at our hospital”.

Spiritual Care involves helping people through life transitions with a “supportive” presence and an awareness of the sacred. The Department of Spiritual Care includes members of many faith traditions who minister across religious boundaries with all people.

The service will take place inside Norwalk Hospital's Perkin Auditorium Thursday, May 15, at 5:30 p.m. 

Important: Family members honoring loved ones who passed away at Norwalk Hospital in 2024 and who plan on attending this event must RSVP by May 9.
