<p>Black women have always walked for our lives, our families, and our freedom. On Saturday, June 6, we’re coming together to walk for our health, our joy, and our power.</p>

<p>Join GirlTREK, the Norwalk Bike/Walk Commission, the Norwalk River Valley Trail, the Norwalk Health Department, the Norwalk Art Space, and local partners for a free community walk and conversation centering Black Women’s wellness, mental health, and our right to safe, beautiful public spaces. This is a space created with and for Black Women, and everyone who loves and supports us is welcome.&nbsp;</p>

Plus how Norwalk’s growing trail and street network is making it safer to walk and roll.</li><li>Time to connect over light refreshments, learn about resources, and sign up for the new Norwalk GirlTREK crew and other local opportunities.</li></ul>

<p>GirlTREK is the largest public health nonprofit and movement for Black women and girls in the United States, organizing one million Black women to walk in their own neighborhoods as a healing tradition and a strategy for health, joy, and justice. Grounded in the legacy of Black women freedom fighters, GirlTREK calls Black women to take 30-minute walks as acts of radical self-care and community transformation.</p>

<p>As Black women organize walking crews, they also build sisterhood, address intergenerational trauma, and mobilize to demand safer streets, better parks, and healthier neighborhoods.</p>
<h2>About the Norwalk Bike/Walk Commission</h2>
<p>The Norwalk Bike/Walk Commission promotes bicycling and walking as safe, accessible, and sustainable modes of transportation and recreation that improve health, equity, and quality of life in our city. The Commission advances Complete Streets, advises on trails and street projects, and supports community education so that everyone in Norwalk can move safely, especially in historically underserved neighborhoods.</p>

<p>GirlTREK’s work to reclaim streets as places where Black women can walk, breathe, and be safe directly connects with Norwalk’s efforts to build a connected, people-centered network of trails, sidewalks, and bikeways. Walking together along the Norwalk River Valley Trail, we are not just exercising; we are embodying a shared vision of streets and greenways that support Black women’s mental, physical, and spiritual health.</p>

<p>Join us for the 2026 Greenwich Police Department Scholarship Fund Benefit Car Show, which will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM&nbsp;at Town Hall, located at 101 Field Point Road in Greenwich. </p>
<p>In the event of rain, the rain date will be Sunday, June 7, 2026.The popular community event will feature a wide array of classic, antique, custom, and exotic cars all on display in the heart of Greenwich. </p>
<p>The car show is free for spectators and open to the public.The Greenwich Police Department Scholarship Fund invites car owners to sign up for pre-registration for $20 per vehicle by June 4.<br><a href="https://www.gpdscholarshipfund.org/gpdsf-car-show/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><u>https://www.gpdscholarshipfund.org/gpdsf-car-show/</u></a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gpdscholarshipfund.org/gpdsf-car-show/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><u></u></a>The event is open to car clubs, and same-day registration will be available at the entrance if space permits for $25 per vehicle. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Greenwich Police Department Scholarship Fund. The family-friendly event will feature a DJ, a 50/50 raffle, food trucks, and more, creating a festive atmosphere for car enthusiasts and families alike.</p>
<p>Sponsorship opportunities begin at just $50, with options such as $125 for a Trophy Sponsor&nbsp;and $250 for an on-site sponsor package. Automobile dealership opportunities begin at $500, which includes on-site participation and the opportunity to display a vehicle. Greenwich Magazine/Moffly Media will once again serve as the exclusive media sponsor.</p>
<p>“This year’s car show is especially meaningful as the Greenwich Police Department celebrates 130 years of service to the community,” said Chief of Police James Heavey. “For more than a century, our officers have worked to protect and serve the residents of Greenwich with professionalism and dedication. The Scholarship Fund reflects our commitment to supporting the families of those officers, and the car show is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate that legacy, and help invest in the next generation.”</p>
<p>Children of Greenwich Police officers who demonstrate ability, character, and academic promise&nbsp;and who qualify for undergraduate studies&nbsp;are eligible to receive financial assistance through the Greenwich Police Department Scholarship Fund.</p>

<p>The Norwalk Community Chorale, now in its 64th year, will<br>present From Wicked to Wonderful, a free concert, on<br>Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East<br>Avenue, Norwalk, Connecticut.</p><p><br>Choral selections include music from several popular<br>Broadway shows along with music celebrating the 250th<br>anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of<br>Independence.<br><br>The ninety-four-member mixed chorus is led by<br>Conductor and Artistic Director, Brian Muller. <p>Nothing says spring better than our popular <b>Classic Design Luncheon and Lecture! </b>We’re honored to feature <strong>Genevieve Wheeler-Brown</strong>, the author of&nbsp;<a href="https://beyondblueandwhite.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"><strong>“Beyond Blue and White.”</strong></a></p>
<p>Wheeler-Brown’s book explores the history of Delftware ceramics, focusing on the often-overlooked roles of women as makers, patrons, and collectors, from 17th-century factory owners like&nbsp;<strong>Barbara Rotteveel</strong>&nbsp;to <strong>Gilded Age</strong> collectors like&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. J. Pierpont Morgan</strong>. A must for devotees of decorative arts and the history of material culture. </p>
<p>Location: The award-winning <b>Jay Estate Gardens</b> designed by <b>Nelson Byrd Woltz</b>. <b>Co-Chairs, Tracy Edwards, Liz Garrett, Emmy Lambert, Lindsay Bello Martin</b> and<b> Suzanne Clary.</b></p>

<p><strong>GENEVIEVE WHEELER BROWN</strong></p>
<p>Founding Genevieve Wheeler Decorative Art Advisory in 2003, Genevieve comes to the advisory business with more than 12 years of experience in the auction world, strong generalist knowledge and a wide range of contacts in American, European and Asian decorative and fine arts.</p>
<p>Genevieve began her career with Christie’s in 1992 with the European Decorative Arts Department after working as an intern at The Phillips Collection, Washington D.C. in 1990. She was then asked to run Overseas Consignments at Christie’s Park Avenue, a department that handled inquiries for European based auctions including Indian and Southeast Asian art, Islamic Art, Miniatures, Textiles and Cameras. In 1995 Genevieve became the New York contact for sales of Fabergé and Russian Silver at Christie’s Park Avenue and most recently was as a specialist in Fine Musical Instruments at Christie’s Rockefeller Center from 1998 to 2003.</p>
<p>While at Christie’s, she was involved with important sales such as ‘The Pine Cone Egg’ by Carl Fabergé and ‘The Taft’ Stradivari which fetched the auction record for an instrument sold in the United States. She has also been an appraiser on the PBS production ‘The Antiques Roadshow’.</p>
<p>A supporter of several fine and decorative art related institutions, Genevieve has served on the Board of the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York, served as a member of the Young Fellows Steering Committee of the Frick Collection from 1995 to 2005 and co-Chaired the Winter Antiques Show Young Collector’s Night, New York in 2004, 2005, and 2006.</p>
<p>Genevieve currently advises several organizations including <a href="https://www.dumbartonhouse.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Dumbarton House</a>, a Federal period house museum in Georgetown, as a board member as well as for <a href="https://www.thewintershow.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Winter Show</a> as a vice-chair of Opening Night and as co-founder of The Winter Show Luncheon.</p><p><strong>About The Jay Heritage Center</strong></p>
<p>The nonprofit Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and revitalizing a place that has meaning for all Americans: The Jay Estate. The property is the centerpiece of the <strong>Boston Post Road Historic District</strong>, Westchester County's <strong><u>only</u></strong> <strong>National Historic Landmark District</strong>,&nbsp;an irreplaceable cultural and natural resource.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Through lectures, workshops, volunteer opportunities, school programs, and concerts, JHC offers timely lessons in history, environmental conservation, architecture, and social justice, while tracing the evolution of democracy in the United States.
