Classic rock, community spirit and a $175,000 goal to support cancer care at Norwalk Hospital’s Whittingham Cancer Center.

The Westport Library will come alive with the sounds of classic rock as DNR, a band made up of local physicians and friends, takes the stage for the Whittingham Cancer Center Concert. Norwalk Hospital staff, patients and the community will gather for this spirited fundraiser, which supports vital programs and services at the C. Anthony and Jean Whittingham Cancer Center, part of Northwell Health. This year’s goal is to raise $175,000 to directly benefit cancer patients living in the community.

Proceeds from this year’s concert will help:

  • Enhance the integrative medicine program by expanding supportive therapies such as acupuncture.
  • Grow the transportation assistance program so more patients in need can get to their appointments.
  • Add additional navigators to the cancer care team to guide patients through every step of treatment.

“At the Whittingham Cancer Center, every member of our care team — from expert physicians and nurses to dedicated social workers and support staff — is committed to providing the best possible care,” said Dr. Adam Boruchov, system chair of the Nuvance Health Cancer Institute and the Eugene P. and Nancy J. Beard Endowed Chair in Oncology. “The community’s support helps ensure patients have comprehensive care and support as they navigate cancer treatment.”

About the DNR Band

Formed in 2002 by four physicians, DNR began as a garage jam session and grew into an eight-member band known for energetic, danceable vintage tunes from the ’60s and ’70s. Their setlist features the music of Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, The Beatles and more. By day, many members work in medicine; by night, they bring audiences to their feet with rock ’n’ roll.
