Celebrate Independence Day at the Brian R. Bill Darien Memorial VFW Post 6933's 21st Annual Push & Pull Parade on Saturday, July 4.
The morning begins with a Declaration Day ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in the Darien High School courtyard. Families participating in the parade should arrive at DHS by 9:45 a.m. Contest winners will be announced at 10:20 a.m., and the parade steps off at 10:30 a.m.
The parade route travels from DHS to Noroton Avenue and concludes at VFW Post 6933.
Singer-songwriter Griffin House will perform as the special musical guest. After the parade, attendees can enjoy food vendors, live music, face painting and children's activities at the VFW.
Contests include Best Decorated Vehicle, Best Float and Most Patriotic Family, with winners leading the parade as honorary grand marshals.
The event is free and open to the public. A suggested donation of $25 per family will be accepted via Venmo at @DarienVFW.
