Event Details

Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East Ave, Norwalk, CT, 06851

We feature two incredible works - the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, featuring Sirena Huang, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 in B minor, the 'Pathétique'. This is one of the great symphonies of all time and was written in 1893, really at the culmination of the Romantic Period in music. The work is so intensely emotional and descriptive that it was used as the primary piece of musical score for the 1997 movie Anna Karenina starring Sophie Marceau and Sean Bean - with all four movements featuring across the soundtrack.

The October 24th concert will open with three songs by the neo-romantic American composer Nicolas Flagello (1928-1994) - performed by the highly acclaimed soprano Katherine Whyte. Two of the songs are based on texts by Flagello himself (Ruth's Aria and Canto), while The Brook is a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson.
