Car Fire Breaks Out On Merritt Parkway In Norwalk: FD

All southbound lanes were closed for a brief period of time as crews worked to extinguish the car fire, according to fire officials.

NORWALK, CT — Crews extinguished a car fire that broke out Saturday night on the Merritt Parkway in Norwalk, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Maggio said firefighters received a report of a car fire on the southbound side of the parkway between exits 40 and 41 just before 6 p.m.

All southbound lanes were closed for approximately 15 mins while crews extinguished the fire, Maggio said. The Westport Department provided assistance.

No injuries were reported. Due to a limited water supply, four fire engines were called to the parkway, Maggio said.
