Each year the Carver Foundation of Norwalk awards Carver students, including college students, with scholarships and recognition. We also recognized our Volunteer of the Year, Emily Agnew, and High School Volunteer of the Year, Kevin Cardona. Our College Graduate of the Year was Jalessa Davis. We honored our college graduates, high school graduates, students of the year such as Mejelly Jean Baptise, most improved students of the year such as Isaiah Gaddy and Berdine Joseph, and many other levels of graduation and achievement. Dozens of young people and their proud parents came together for our 44th Annual Testimonial Dinner with this one common pledge: We will conceive of a legitimate purpose in our heart and set out to accomplish it; we will make this purpose the centralizing point in our thoughts; we will make this purpose our supreme duty and will devote ourselves to its attainment; even if we fail again and again to accomplish our purpose, as we necessarily must until weakness is overcome, the strength and character gained will be the measure of our true success and this will form a starting point for future power and triumph.
