Fire officials said "a hoarding condition" at the home and flammable liquids and propane tanks in the garage contributed to the large blaze.

NORWALK, CT — A cat was killed in a Norwalk house fire late Monday night, in which a "hoarding condition" was a factor, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Deputy Chief Steve Shay said the house fire was reported around 10:15 p.m. on Cossitt Road.

According to Shay, fire could be seen on each floor of the two-story home, which also included a basement apartment, when crews arrived. Three cars were also on fire in the driveway.

A "hoarding condition" at the home, along with flammable liquids, propane tanks, motorcycles and a number of car parts in the garage, contributed to the large blaze and made it difficult to extinguish, Shay said.

All residents and one dog managed to exit the home safely, however a cat was killed in the house fire, Shay said.
