Catalytic Converters Stolen From Cars Parked In Norwalk: Police
Police said catalytic converters were reported stolen from three Toyota vehicles and five Hondas parked in Norwalk on the same day.

NORWALK, CT — Police received a number of reports of catalytic converters stolen from vehicles parked in Norwalk throughout the day on Jan. 25.
In a news release, Police Lt. Joe Dinho said each theft, with one exception, was reported in the East Norwalk area of the city.
After speaking with witnesses and examining video footage, police determined an older tan Lexus had parked next to the vehicles, after which the suspects exited the Lexus and removed the catalytic converters from underneath the parked vehicles, Dinho said.

The suspects were reported to be wearing face masks and appear to have concentrated their efforts in East Norwalk, Dinho said. He also noted the Lexus had a sunroof, a black trunk and Connecticut registration 404FDJ.
According to Dinho, one of the witnesses reported the Lexus nearly struck her while fleeing the scene as she was walking in the parking lot.

In addition to the East Norwalk incidents, Dinho said a witness at Norwalk Hospital reported seeing a black BMW sedan with Connecticut registration BB47451 park next to a vehicle at the hospital, after which two passengers wearing face masks exited the BMW and stole the catalytic converter from the other vehicle using jacks and a portable power tool.
In all, the suspects stole catalytic converters from three Toyota vehicles and five Hondas, Dinho said.
