Chinese Olympic Swim Team Trains in Norwalk for Rio Olympics

A total of 50 swimmers, coaches and support staff are training at the Swim Seventy Aquacenter.

Norwalk, CT - Norwalk-based Swim Seventy is hosting the Chinese Olympic Swim Team this month while they train for the Rio Olympics.

"[Fifty] Swimmers/coaches/and support staff are among the Chinese contingent with us until the end of July," Swim Seventy officials wrote in a statement. "The athletes include swimmers that are currently at the top of world rankings, previous Olympic medalists, and Sun Yang, a current world record holder and the most successful Chinese swimmer in history. The swimmers train in the pool twice per day for a total of 4 hours, and also train in our gym."

The Swim Seventy Aquacenter is located on Willard Road in Norwalk, and features a 27,000-square-foot facility with a six-lane, 50-meter lap pool. Officials with the Chinese team chose it because they wanted their swimmers to train in the United States within an hour or two of the Rio time zone, according to Swim Seventy.
