Circus Arts Classes for Adults offered in South Norwalk
From Cirque du Soleil to being featured on Oprah, the circus arts has become a popular fitness trend. Numerous private studio and gyms across the world are offering fun and challenging classes in Lyra (aerial hoops), Silks, Trapeze, and the most popular Pole Dancing/ Pole Fitness.Even South Norwalk has caught up with the circus arts craze. Work It Dance and Fitness has been offering Pole Dancing/ Fitness classes to women and men since 2010. Doctors, executives, soccer moms, school teachers, and even a neuroscientist are among the pole dancing clients of Work It. "After only a few weeks of classes, the instructors and other students at Work It have helped me to discover new passions, develop both old and new skills, and build up a confidence and esteem I never knew I had. The classes at Work It are incredibly addictive and the people become another family. I highly recommend this studio to everyone, regardless of what you might think your abilities are. Take a class or two; you might just surprise yourself exactly as I did" writes Kendall Smith for a Google review about her pole fitness experience.
This "first and only co-ed Pole studio in Connecticut" has been featured in a number of magazines including Natural Awakenings, Fairfield County Beat, and international trade magazine Pole Spin. In an article written by Kristen Rzasa for Natural Awakenings, she explains why Pole Dancing has become a workout of choice for so many people. "Rather than track the incline on the treadmill, women from all walks of life long to embrace their bodies, curves and all, and actually enjoy their workouts. The results? Not only a strong core and buff biceps, but a renewed sense of their sexuality and increased confidence."
But do you have to be an athlete to be able to join in on this type of workout? The short answer is absolutely not. Michelle Abbruzzese, owner of Work It Dance and Fitness explains, "I hear all the time from people that I meet, 'I've been dying to try Pole as a workout but I need to loose weight, become stronger, or work out first, etc'. It doesn't make sense. That's like saying 'I want to learn Zumba but I have to learn to dance first' or 'I want to take a spin class but I have to learn to ride a bike'. Just like any other workout you loose weight, become stronger, and increase your skills by taking the first step and coming to class on a regular basis!"
So follow the recommendations of national TV shows such as The Doctors, Ellen, Oprah, and The Today Show and try Pole Dancing/Fitness as your workout this week!
Work It Dance and Fitness offers other unique classes such as Bellydancing, Burlesque, Cardio Dance, Flexibility, Body Toning, Burlesque Cabaret/Jazz Dancing, and more.
