City Announces 'Norwalk Through Your Eyes' Student Art Contest

NORWALK, CT — Mayor Barbara Smyth invites Norwalk students in grades K-12 to showcase their creativity, community pride and unique perspective through the mayor's "Norwalk Through Your Eyes" student art contest.

According to a news release provided by the city, the contest encourages students to capture what Norwalk means to them through original artwork.

"Whether it is the city's scenery, its people, a memorable moment or a unique perspective on community life, students are encouraged to share their vision through art," the release reads.

Art submissions will be accepted through Oct. 16, according to the city.

The artwork will be grouped by grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12 and reviewed by a panel comprised of city and Norwalk Public Schools staff and members of The Norwalk Art Space, according to the city.

The winning artists will be invited to a reception hosted by Smyth, and chosen artwork will be displayed at City Hall.

The artists and their artwork will also be showcased on the City of Norwalk's official social media accounts, according to the city.

"We are creating new ways to better engage our students," Mayor Barbara Smyth said in a news release. "For some participating students, this may be their very first time visiting City Hall. We want to invite them in, display their creativity and provide residents and visitors the opportunity to experience Norwalk through the eyes of its young artists."
