“Financial Aid Fundamentals” provides an in-depth look at the financial aid process, helping to demystify it and set realistic expectations for financing college. Using a slide-show presentation, Morrissey will explain the purpose of the FAFSA and the CSS Profile, highlighting the differences between aid calculations, using the Federal and Institutional methodologies. She’ll also discuss how the term “aid” refers to a combination of loans, grants, scholarships and work study, and explore tuition negotiations, appeals and how to deal with unexpected changes in a family’s financial circumstances.

Francesca Morrissey has a B.A. from Loyola University Maryland and an M.A. in English Literature from Iona College and has worked in various industries over the past 25 years, including software, education, the not-for-profit sector, fitness, and hotel management. She is the founder and owner of Access Success (formerly Independent College Counseling Services) and continues to teach AP English classes and mentor Independent Study homeschooled students. She also hosts workshops and seminars on specific college topics, works with middle schoolers and their parents on researching and applying to independent private secondary schools, and regularly provides tutoring for students in grades K-12.
