Community Shows Up for Kids, Making The Annual 29th Kids Challenge a Success

Norwalk, CT - Kids In Crisis hosted its 29th Annual Kids Challenge Golf Tournament on Monday, July 13, at Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk, bringing the community together for a shared purpose. Golfers, sponsors, committee members, volunteers, and friends spent the day standing behind children and families who turn to Kids In Crisis during some of their most difficult moments.

This year’s Kids Challenge raised more than $122,000 to support Kids In Crisis free, 24/7 services, including SafeHaven emergency shelter, TeenTalk school-based counseling, prevention programs, and its round-the-clock Helpline.

Guests enjoyed a full day of golf, cocktails, dinner, and a program that centered on the children and families who rely on Kids In Crisis. The day also featured special course competitions, including a Beat the Pro challenge and a Hole in One challenge, where one golfer came within four inches of winning a BMW courtesy of BMW of Darien.

Proceeds from Kids Challenge help ensure that a child can sleep safely at SafeHaven, a student can walk into school and find a TeenTalk counselor ready to listen, and a frightened parent or child can call the Helpline at 2 a.m. and reach someone ready to help.

“When the rain forced us to reschedule, we knew we were asking a lot of this community,” said Shari L. Shapiro, Executive Director of Kids In Crisis. “And still, they showed up. That shared commitment is what makes our work possible every day, for every child and family who turns to Kids In Crisis during some of their most difficult moments.”
