Condominium Fire In Norwalk Declared State Disaster: Report

A condominium fire that occurred last month in Norwalk has been declared a state disaster.

NORWALK, CT — A condominium fire that occurred last month in Norwalk has been declared a state disaster, the Norwalk Hour reported. The fire broke out on Dec. 11 at the StoneWood Condominiums, displacing residents from 54 units.

This is the first time a fire in Norwalk has been declared a state disaster, according to the Norwalk Hour. Due to this designation, residents of 100 Richards Avenue are now eligible for low-interest disaster loans.

Those who experienced damage to either their homes or property can now take out loans at an interest rate of 3.5 percent, and in certain cases 1.75 percent, the Norwalk Hour reported. This enables people to borrow up to $40,000 to replace or repair property impacted by the fire.
