Cops Say Norwalk Man Accused Of Strangulation, Threatening
The incident occurred just after midnight on South Main Street.

NORWALK, CT — A 30-year-old Norwalk man was arrested on charges of second-degree strangulation and second-degree threatening after Norwalk police said he attacked his ex-girlfriend on Tuesday on South Main Street.
In addition to the two mentioned charges, John Pogyo, of Ely Avenue, also was charged with violation of a protective order in connection with the incident, which occurred just after midnight.
According to police, officers were sent to a report of a disturbance on South Main Street near police headquarters, and learned from the victim that Pogyo had shown up at her job.

"The victim and Pogyo were in a vehicle arguing and Pogyo struck the victim in the mouth with a closed fist," police said. "The victim exited the vehicle in front of Norwalk Police Headquarters and Pogyo pulled the victim by the hair against a wall and said he would kill the victim, and then began choking the victim. When a bystander walked by Pogyo stopped, and the victim was able to contact the police."
The victim, who declined medical attention, has an active order of protection against Pogyo, according to police.

Pogyo was taken into custody and held in lieu of bail of $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
