Coronavirus Norwalk: Schools To Stay Closed 2 More Weeks

Students will continue distance learning into next month, and will lose the previously scheduled April break due to COVID-19.

NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Public Schools will be closed for an additional two weeks due to efforts to slow down the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), district officials announced on Facebook Thursday.

"As we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic, our district and the state overall have had to make difficult decisions based on what is best for our students, staff and community," officials wrote. "Recent guidance from the Conn. State Dept. of Education is for school districts to plan with long-term closures in mind. As a result, Norwalk Public Schools will extend our original period of Distance Learning into a second two-week phase, to include the week of April 6. To provide consistency and learning momentum, students will continue Distance Learning during what was originally scheduled as April break. There will be no Distance Learning on April 10, which is a holiday on the calendar."
