News 12 has announced Larry Roberg, an assignment desk editor who worked for the station for over 30 years, died unexpectedly this week.
NORWALK, CT — Larry Roberg, a beloved News 12 Connecticut assignment desk editor who worked for the station for over 30 years, died unexpectedly this week after a brief illness, according to News 12.
A Norwalk resident, he was 62 at the time of his death, according to the Raymond Funeral Home.
Roberg worked for News 12 Connecticut for 32 years, longer than anyone in the station's history, News 12 reports. A major presence behind the camera, Roberg played a key role in the station's daily broadcasts.

Roberg's legacy is evident not just in his work, but in the outpouring of love shown from those who knew and worked with him.
John Craven, a political reporter for the station, said on Twitter Thursday was "a very sad day" for the station's newsroom.

"For 32 years, Larry Roberg was the literal center of this place — our assignment manager," the tweet reads, "and really the soul of this place...we love you, Larry."
Craven also encouraged anyone reading to root for the New York Mets that night in Roberg's honor.
News 12 reporter Shosh Bedrosian said on Twitter news of Roberg's death was "very sad" and noted the many years he devoted to the station.
"Larry held down our assignment desk for years," the tweet reads. "May his memory be a blessing."
A Facebook post also noted Roberg was the founder of the Norwalk Backgammon club, which met weekly at the Panera Bread on Main Avenue prior to the start of the coronavirus crisis in March 2020.
Funeral services for Roberg are scheduled to take place Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Archangels on Bedford Street in Stamford, according to Raymond Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport at 11:30 a.m.
Visitation is scheduled for Sept. 9 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Home, located on Wall Street in Norwalk.
