CT Police Officers Come to Rescue after Men Leave Turtles in Hot Van: Report
More than 100 small, green turtles were rescued.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Three Philadelphia men, who police said were selling turtles out of the back of a van, were arrested on animal cruelty and other charges Saturday after officers found more than 100 small, green turtles stashed inside the hot vehicle.
James Parker Jr., 50, his son, James Jr., 24, and the elder Parker's brother, Michael, 42, were charged with interfering with police, illegal sale of turtles and vending without a permit, in addition to cruelty to animals, reports the Connecticut Post.
The trio were caught by police on Boston Aveune in Bridgeport, but not before they allegedly tried to flee the scene. The turtles were removed from the hot van and turned over to an area animal rescue group.
