NORWALK, CT — Quick work by police and emergency responders saved a life late Sunday.

At 10:39 p.m. police responded to East Avenue at the Interstate 95 overpass for a "distraught man hanging off the bridge over I-95," police said.

"Arriving Officers found the man on the highway side of a safety fence over I-95," police said. "Officers quickly grabbed the male and pinned him to the fence. Two Officers then climbed to the top of the fence and grabbed the man’s arms and torso. At this time both officers were in a precarious position while attempting to pull the resistive man back over the fence. Officers were able to leverage the man and pull him to safety. The distraught man was transported to the hospital by ambulance for evaluation. We commend the team effort and heroic actions of our officers for saving this man’s life tonight."
