Dog Killed In Norwalk House Fire, 3 Displaced: FD

Fire officials said the blaze broke out at a house in Norwalk and quickly spread to the first and second floors of the home.

NORWALK, CT — A dog was killed in a Norwalk house fire late Tuesday morning, according to the Norwalk Fire Department.

In a news release, Assistant Chief Timothy Reardon said a house fire was reported just before noon on Fullmar Lane.

An initial report indicated a fire had broken out on the home's back deck, Reardon said.

When crews arrived in the area, they found a well-involved structure fire with flames present on the first and second floors of the home that were rapidly extending to multiple attic spaces of the split-level house, according to Reardon.

The fire was extinguished and brought under control in about an hour, Reardon said.

According to Reardon, a dog was found dead within the fire area by firefighters.

No other injuries were reported, Reardon said.

Three residents were displaced as a result of the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross, Reardon said.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal Division, according to Reardon.

Reardon also noted the city's fire stations were covered by mutual aid fire departments from Rowayton, New Canaan, Westport and Stamford while the blaze occurred.
