Dog Rescued From Apartment Fire, Owners Displaced In Norwalk: FD

A dog was rescued from a two-apartment building in Norwalk after a fire broke out, according to fire officials.

NORWALK, CT — A dog was rescued from a two-apartment building in Norwalk after a fire broke out Friday night, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Assistant Chief of Operations Edward McCabe said the fire was reported around 8 p.m. in the back of a building on France Street. Initial reports said all occupants were out of the building except for a dog on the first floor.

When crews arrived, the found smoke and fire in the kitchen of the first-floor unit, McCabe said. As they attacked the fire, firefighters found the dog in the kitchen.

The animal was carried outside to fire personnel, who administered oxygen and rendered care to it. The dog was then brought to a 24-hour emergency vet center in town where it was recovering as of Monday morning, McCabe said.

The fire was contained to the first floor. Residents of both apartments were displaced due to fire and smoke damage, McCabe said.

No injuries were reported. The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
