Don't Become Victims Of Porch Pirates: Norwalk Police

Police are urging residents to be vigilant this holiday season.

NORWALK, CT – As residents start their holiday shopping and begin taking advantage of online deals, police warn not to let "porch pirates" steal your loot. Many packages are stolen right from residents' porches during the holiday season, and police have taken to Facebook to remind citizens of ways to keep their purchases safe.

Avoid falling victim to porch pirates this holiday season by following these simple tips:

  • Be there when your package arrives
  • Arrange for the delivery when someone will be home and can accept it
  • Be specific with your shipper; tell them a safe location where you want them to place your delivery (in the backyard, behind a trash can, in the garage, etc.)
  • Avoid home delivery altogether and pick up your package from your local shipping hub

Check the Nowalk Police Department Facebook page for more information.
