Driver Shot In Leg, Car Stolen In Norwalk: Police

The driver told police an unknown man wearing a face mask entered their vehicle, pointed a gun at them and instructed them to drive.

NORWALK, CT — Police are investigating a car theft reported Monday evening in Norwalk, during which a driver was shot in the leg.

In a news release posted to Facebook, police said the theft was reported around 5:30 p.m. in the area of 580 Main Avenue.

The driver told police an unknown man wearing a face mask entered their vehicle, pointed a gun at them and instructed them to drive. A struggle occurred a short time later, during which the gun went off and the driver sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

The driver exited the vehicle after being shot and the masked man drove away. A suspect was later arrested by Danbury police on unrelated charges, according to police.

Officers provided emergency medical care to the driver, who was later brought to Norwalk Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
