East Norwalk Tree Lighting To Feature Music, Visit From Santa
The Third Taxing District will hold its annual holiday tree lighting this weekend, featuring live music, snacks and a visit from Santa.

NORWALK, CT — The Third Taxing District will hold its annual holiday tree lighting event Sunday night in East Norwalk, continuing a nearly 30-year tradition for the area.
The tree lighting will be held in the Roger Ludlow Triangle park, located across the street from the East Norwalk Historical Cemetery, at 5 p.m.
According to General Manager Kevin Barber, residents can arrive at the park any time after 4:30 p.m. and enjoy cookies, cider and hot chocolate, however the program officially begins at 5 p.m. A rain date is scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m.

Mayor Harry Rilling will be in attendance and bring greetings from the city. The program will be emceed by Tony Masi of the Summertime Band, and Barber and the district's commissioners will also have a part in the program.
Barber said the Third Taxing District was thrilled to present this holiday tradition after its cancelation last year due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis and in 2019 due to rain.

Those in attendance can also enjoy seasonal songs performed by the Summertime Band and the arrival of Santa Claus in a Third Taxing District bucket truck after the tree is lit.
"The children will be able to sit next to Santa for picture taking and candy canes," Barber said in an email. "This year, we are asking all children who wish to talk to Santa to please wear a face mask to protect Santa."
Residents are also encouraged to bring a donation of non-perishable food to benefit the food pantry at St. Thomas Church in East Norwalk and an unwrapped toy or game for Dylan's Army/Charlotte's Web Of Prayers. Boxes for donations which will be set up at the event.
