Embattled Norwalk Republican Registrar To Retire: Report
Karen Doyle Lyons had considered resigning or retiring following the outcry over her recent Facebook comments, but changed her mind twice.

NORWALK, CT — After mounting calls for her to step down, Karen Doyle Lyons, Norwalk's longtime Registrar of Voters, will retire following recent Facebook posts deemed racist by a chorus of local officials, writes the Norwalk Hour.
Last week, in a thread of Facebook comments concerning the city's recent decision to take down the Christopher Columbus statue, Lyons wrote, "No more Black History Month because many of us know more then [sic] many Blacks." She claimed the comment was taken out of context, because she went on to say that she believed that people should learn Black history throughout the year, not just during February.
Following the outcry over the comments, Lyons said she was going to resign, then retire, but changed her mind.
