
Local Civil War historian Keith Miller will recount the stories of life for Fairfield County's 17th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. In the summer of 1862, one thousand men enlisted, answering the call from President Lincoln for volunteers to help save the Union. They fought on the battlefields of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Morris Island, and Florida. Admission includes the "Norwalk and the Civil War" exhibit. Special exhibit of the Masonic sword presented to Lt. Col Albert H. Wilcoxson, 17th Connecticut Volunteers, by members of the St. John's Lodge No. 6, Accepted and Free Masons, Norwalk.
