Norwalk River Watershed Assoc. Volunteer Opportunity: NRVT Trail Maintenance

Join NRWA, Norwalk Tree Alliance, Norwalk River Valley Trail (NRVT) Steering Committee and REI Norwalk to help enhance the section of the NRVT that runs from Union Park to Mathews Park in Norwalk.

Volunteers will clean up trash along the trail and cut back invasive plants.  NRWA board member, Elizabeth Craig, will identify and discuss the invasives present along the Trail and instruct volunteers on the proper removal techniques.

The NRVT is an on-going, five-town effort to connect existing trails and blaze new sections to form a 27-mile trail that reaches from the Long Island Sound in Norwalk, north along the Norwalk River to its source in Danbury. Ultimately, the NRVT will connect to rail stations, schools and offices offering clean, green transportation as well as recreational opportunities. Two miles of the Trail have been completed in Norwalk and Wilton.  The balance of the Trail is currently in the active study and design phase.  Maps of existing trails in the watershed are available on NRWA's website; click here to connect to norwalkriver.org.
