The artists selected for this show submitted works that resonate the theme of the five senses in their interpretation to suit a thriving urban environment. Dana Laird, a lifelong Rowayton resident, has been
a vibrant fixture of the local art community for years and she has been spending most of her time doing with photography with an urban twist of late. Joan Jardine captures figures on the go with an Impressionistic style by
exclusively painting with a knife against a hard board. Phyllis Sinrich has been seeing the world through a unique lens leaving much to the viewer’s imagination.  Lisa Black has been a Monotype legend in this area as she explores many genres in her energetic work. Donna Cassarro Hughes changes the view of modern portraiture with her fashion forward faces. John Hetzel entertains us with his naive primitive bar scene in
watercolor. Jana Ireijo creates in acrylic. David Hollier documents scenes of
bastions in a Metropolis in watercolor. Jane Bennett focuses on the overlooked
in her photography.  Loren DePalma
discovers her inner urban through acrylic. Lynn Stevens Massey orchestrates an
underwater world through watercolors. Lorraine Ryan explores the LI Sound from
ashore with a Representational watercolor technique. Mari Gyorgyey creates
vivacious energy on a soft material through silk painting. Debra Schaffer takes
photo collage to a clever 3-dimensional level. Ellen Hackl Fagan defines sound
through a visual means. Mary Jo Lombardo mesmerizes with a thought-provoking
film cycle.

Curator, Sooo-z Mastropietro has been
working with many regional artists over the past few years through Rockwell Art
and Framing. Her collaborative shows originate from a core theme and allow her
to create multi-layered shows involving many interesting artists. An artist
herself with training at FIT in Fashion Design and Textile Design prepared her
for an artistic career with an emphasis on design elements to further the end
product. Ms. Mastropietro’s artistic endeavors range from illustrating estates,
to oil painting, to apparel arts, and to performing classical music with 2
regional symphonies. Her acceptance of so many art forms in her own life opens
a wide range of inspiration she sees in others.

The Maritime Garage Gallery is a
collaboration between the Parking Authority of Norwalk and the Cultural Arts
Commission of Connecticut in an effort to support art in public spaces.
