Due to the current public health crisis, many of our neighbors are experiencing a tremendous amount of anxiety. Some have lost loved ones. Unemployment and economic uncertainty have made it difficult to provide basic needs. As we adjust to isolation, many are struggling with home schooling, working from home, and caring for seniors. Crisis counseling aims to teach coping strategies, help those impacted to understand their options and strengths, and focus on natural supports.

“FCA has always aimed to be a pillar of hope and support in our community. We are proud to be able to offer this new service so those who are struggling the most can find the help they need,” said Robert F. Cashel, President & CEO of Family & Children’s Agency.

The COACH service is accessible to all populations and is especially focused on supporting those who are most vulnerable or marginalized, including non-native English speakers, those with disabilities, and residents without computer access.

This initiative is possible thanks to a grant from the Department of Mental Health and Addiction (DHMAS) through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FCA is one of five organizations in the state offering this service and will support Region 1, which includes Fairfield County and surrounding areas.
