Fire Breaks Out In Screened-In Porch Of Norwalk Home: FD

Fire officials said the 4th of July blaze started in the home's screened-in porch and extended into the living room.

NORWALK, CT — Firefighters extinguished a blaze that broke out in the screened-in porch of an Esquire Road home on the 4th of July, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Engine 2 Lieutenant Corey Gilchrist said crews were called to the split-level single-family home around 6:30 a.m. The occupants of the home were awoken by smoke alarms and safely exited the structure before calling 911.

When crews arrived, they discovered the fire had started in the home's back screened-in porch and extended into the living room, Gilchrist said.

The fire was extinguished in about 25 minutes. The origin and cause of the blaze are under investigation, Gilchrist said.
