Fire Officials Warn About Downed Power Lines
Firefighters caution, '...you cannot tell if a downed power line is electrified just by looking at it. Consider ALL lines to be live!'
NORWICH, CT — Firefighters are warning area residents that there are myriad downed tress which have taken power lines with them. And, some of the lines may be live. And so potentially deadly.
The Laurel Hill Fire Volunteer fire squad cautions: "...you cannot tell if a downed power line is electrified just by looking at it. Consider ALL lines to be live! Even if you think the wire is cable, phone, or other, leave them be. Don’t touch them. Don’t drive over them! Allow utility workers to address them. If you think you have an emergency situation call 911."
