Firefighters Battle Norwalk Condominium Fire: FD

Norwalk fire officials said firefighters worked to put out a structure fire in a condominium over the weekend.

NORWALK, CT — Fire officials said firefighters responded to a structure fire in a West Main Street condominium Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 12:09 p.m., according to a release.

Fire officials said crews observed heavy smoke coming from multiple windows and the main doorway of the building upon arrival. A mother and a young child were also found to be standing on a second floor balcony with smoke coming from their apartment, officials said.

Firefighters used ground ladders to climb up to the balcony and determined that the fire was not in the mother’s apartment, so the door to the balcony was secured and the mother and infant were protected on the balcony, officials said.
