First Floor Of Norwalk Public Library To Be Closed For 2 Days This Week

The first floor of the Norwalk Public Library will be closed to the public for two days this week as new carpeting is installed.

NORWALK, CT — The first floor of the Norwalk Public Library will be closed to the public Wednesday and Thursday as new carpeting is installed.

According to a news release provided by the library, the new carpet initiative underscores the library's commitment to providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for patrons.

"Our libraries are among our most treasured community assets, which is why we're upgrading the carpets on the first floor of our main library," Mayor Harry Rilling said in a news release. "This is all part of the city of Norwalk's commitment to enhance our residents' overall quality of life by making our libraries more comfortable."

During the two-day closure, the lower level of the library and the children's department on the second floor will remain fully accessible to the public. Patrons will still have access to new books, computers and printing services, which will be relocated to the lower level, according to the library.

"We are excited to revamp our library space with new carpeting, which will contribute to a safe and more inviting atmosphere for our community," Norwalk Public Library Director Sherelle Harris said in a news release. "We appreciate Mayor Rilling and the Common Council for approving this capital carpet project for our residents."

The Norwalk Public Library, located at 1 Belden Avenue, encourages patrons to plan their visits accordingly during the renovation period of May 22-28. Regular library hours will remain in effect, and staff will be available to assist patrons with any questions or concerns, according to the library.
