Former Norwalk Resident Pleads Guilty To Cocaine Trafficking: DOJ

Court officials said a citizen of Mexico last residing in Norwalk has pleaded guilty to a cocaine trafficking charge.

NORWALK, CT — A 37-year-old citizen of Mexico last residing in Norwalk pleaded guilty Monday before U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in Bridgeport to a cocaine trafficking offense, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut John H. Durham announced in a news release Tuesday.

According to court documents, Jaime Lopez conspired with his brother and others to traffic large quantities of cocaine between March and June 2018, Durham said.

"Lopez was intercepted on a court-authorized wiretap discussing the distribution of cocaine and, in May 2018, he was involved in the purchase of a kilogram of cocaine for approximately $28,000 from a source of supply in New Rochelle, New York," Durham said in a release.

The accused has been detained since his arrest on Oct. 11, 2018.

Durham said the accused pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, an offense that carries a mandatory minimum prison term of five years and a maximum prison term of 40 years.
