Gala Concert Features Pop, Rock, Blues, Jazz & Broadway Numbers

Bridgeport Theatre Company launches its fifth season with the benefit concert "(R)evolution: songs of war & creation" Friday, Oct. 3.

Bridgeport Theatre Company launches its fifth season with the benefit concert (R)evolution: songs of war & creation Friday, Oct. 3 at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre, 263 Golden Hill St., Downtown Bridgeport. Under the Artistic Direction of Eli Newsom, Bridgeport Theatre Company operates in residence and presents the Community Theatre Series for the Downtown Cabaret Theatre.



This one-night-only gala concert featuring pop, rock, blues, jazz & Broadway musical numbers is a not-to-be-missed event. Complete with a silent auction featuring thousands of dollars worth of prizes, raffles, and a large cast of performers made up of BTC favorites (with a few newcomers) and a live band, this one-night-only event will kick off the 2014/2015 season in style.

The evening will feature a cast of over 70 local performers presenting songs of war, revolution, creation and evolution, including songs by The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Andrews Sisters, and from musicals such as Miss Saigon, The Lion King, American Idiot, and many more. The performance will also include a sneak preview of the upcoming 2014/15 mainstage musical season, with songs from The Wiz, Guys & Dolls and a special appearance by the cast of Hair which opens at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre the following week.

Tickets are $35 for adults and $20 students; all profits support the upcoming 2014/15 season. Concessions will be available for purchase throughout each performance and patrons are encouraged to pack picnics (BYO everything format) for the full ‘Cabaret experience’. Following (R)evolution, the 2014/15 mainstage season will include Hair, The Wiz, Lord of the Flies, Guys & Dolls, and A Few Good Men. Open call auditions are held throughout the season.

BTC is also known for their concerts and special events -- this season’s other offerings will include The Rocky Horror Picture Show Experience (movie screening with live floor show) on Oct. 30 and 31, Love Bites Anti-Valentine’s Concert on Feb 13, BTC Rocks: The Beatles White Album on April 3, and the 2015 Playathon on June 5 will close out the season.
