Gas Explosion Blows Windows, Doors Off Norwalk Home: FD

Norwalk fire officials said a man and a pregnant woman were able to escape from the home.

NORWALK, CT — Firefighters responded to a Deepwood Lane home Tuesday morning after a large gas explosion blew all the windows and doors off the house.

According to a news release, Deputy Chief Stephen Shay said there was heavy smoke and fire showing from the basement and garage area of the home when firefighters arrived.

"There were two occupants home at the time, a man and a woman," Shay said in a release. "The woman was nine months pregnant."

Shay said all occupants were able to escape from the home with no injuries, and the fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes.

The fire is currently under investigation and the house is posted unfit for occupancy, Shay said.
