A primary care doctor who specializes in geriatrics and is bilingual, Dr. Alberto Gavilanes Aguirre, recently joined Nuvance Health Medical Practice in Norwalk, Conn.

Most recently, Gavilanes Aguirre was an attending physician at Newport Hospital and a primary care physician at Lifespan, a Rhode Island-based academic healthcare system.

With board certifications in geriatrics and internal medicine, he can see adults and has specialized training to care for the elderly.

The doctor completed a fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center Albert Einstein College in the Bronx and residency at Seton Hall’s School of Medicine in New Jersey.

Originally from Ecuador, Gavilanes Aguirre went to medical school at a private, Catholic university in Guayaquil. He speaks English and Spanish. He also is a longtime member of Physicians for Humanity — a nonprofit medical organization that serves underprivileged communities.
