GoFundMe Page Helps Family Of Norwalk Coronavirus Victim

Dan Spano, 30, was a personal trainer who owned a GYMGUYZ franchise.

NORWALK, CT — A GoFundMe page has been established to assist the family of 30-year-old Norwalk resident Dan Spano, a personal trainer who passed away this month of complications from the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

Spano had no underlying conditions and was fit and healthy prior to contracting the virus, according to his family. He was a 2008 graduate of Ridgefield High School and a 2012 Costal Carolina University.

Additionally, Spano was a GYMGUYZ franchise owner, and as of Wednesday, the GoFundMe effort had generated more than $18,000 toward a goal of $40,000. (Don't miss local and statewide news about coronavirus developments and precautions. Sign up for Patch alerts and daily newsletters.)

"His passion for life, family, friends, fitness and the health and well-being of his clients was contagious," wrote Josh York and Samuel Langer, who organized the page. "He had a smile that simply lit up the room, and a drive that rallied everyone around him to perform at their best. He absolutely loved training his clients, and they loved being trained by him! We are so completely overcome with sorrow, but at the same time, keenly focused on helping Dan’s family and friends cope with his sudden loss mentally and financially.

"We are raising funds to help defray Dan's medical, funeral, and memorial expenses. This is the last thing that the Spanos should have to worry about at this time. Any additional funds will be put towards further settling any of Dan's affairs. All funds will go directly to the Spano family."
