Grand Marshal Announced For Norwalk Saint Patrick's Day Parade

William Maloney, a Norwalk police detective, has been announced as the 2022 Norwalk Saint Patrick's Day Parade grand marshal.

NORWALK, CT — William Maloney, a longtime member of the Norwalk Police Department, was announced Thursday as the 2022 Norwalk Saint Patrick's Day Parade grand marshal.

In a news release, the Norwalk Police Emerald Society Parade Committee said Maloney began his police career in 1981 with the Greenwich Police Department before becoming a Norwalk police officer in July 1983.

Over his forty-years of service, Maloney attained the rank of detective and has proudly served as an investigator for 33 years. He is a certified fraud examiner and investigator who has received recognition and awards for his work, according to committee.

"I am honored to be grand marshal and excited to celebrate the rich history of the Irish people at the Norwalk Saint Patrick's Day Parade," Maloney said in a news release. "I wish to thank the Norwalk Police Emerald Society for my selection."

The parade is scheduled to step off from Veteran's Park at 11 a.m. on March 12 and will proceed through South Norwalk.

Maloney's family hails from Ireland. He and his wife, Yajun Shan Maloney, have three children: Michael, Meghan and Kelly.
