Health Scare Avoided For Daughter Of Popular Weathercaster

WCBS-TV's chief weathercaster Lonnie Quinn, a Connecticut native, thanked Norwalk Hospital for helping his daughter.

NORWALK, CT — Imagine your young daughter, while playing at home, hits her head, loses consciousness and starts to turn blue. WCBS-TV chief weathercaster Lonnie Quinn, a Connecticut native, recently experienced it.

That scenario became a reality for the popular weather anchor's daughter, Savannah, when she fell and struck her head while jumping on her bed, Quinn wrote on Twitter.

The incident caused him to miss his usual 11 p.m. broadcast that night, not something he's done often since joining the station in 2007.

"I was not on the 11 pm news because Savy had to be rushed to the ER," Quinn wrote, adding that his daughter is OK, because his "superstar wife saved the day. Thank you Norwalk Hospital."

In addition to his weekday duties at WCBS-TV, Quinn is also the national weather anchor for "CBS This Morning" on Saturdays. He grew up in Cheshire and is a former actor, reportedly having held roles on "All My Children" and "Santa Barbara." He also appeared as himself on "As the World Turns."
