Here Are The Safest Places To Live In CT: Is Your Town Ranked?

WESTON, CT — A new analysis has ranked the safest communities in Connecticut, on which Weston took the top spot. According to alarms.org, the official site of the National Council for Home Safety and Security, 81 communities made the list.

To identify the safest cities in the state, the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics were reviewed, along with population data and internal research done by alarms.org. Cities that either failed to submit a complete crime report to the FBI or with populations under 10,000 were then eliminated.

The remaining cities were ranked based on their number of reported violent crimes, such as aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery, and property crimes, including burglary, arson, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft, per 1,000 people.

According to the list, the safest community in Connecticut is Weston, which was the only town with a population over 10,000 that did not report a violent crime. The town also reported a mere 15 property crimes, statistics which place Weston in the top ten nationwide.

Ridgefield and Newtown placed second and third on the list respectively. Only two violent crimes were reported in Ridgefield, and Newtown came as close as possible to that with only three violent crimes. The towns of Wilton (4) and Monroe (5) rounded out the top five.
