Himes Invites NCC President David Levinson to State of the Union Address

The president of the Norwalk Community College, which serves Darien and area communities, will be U.S. Rep. Himes' State of the Union guest.

David Levinson, president of Norwalk Community College, will be the guest of U.S. Rep. Jim Himes at President Obama’s State of the Union address before Congress, Himes’ office announced Thursday morning.

Himes, a Greenwich Democrat (recently re-appointed to the Intelligence Committee), is scheduled to have a news conference at NCC with Levinson and two students at 3:30 p.m.

Today, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) will hold a press conference in Norwalk to formally announce his State of the Union guest, Dr. David L. Levinson, President of Norwalk Community College (NCC).

Himes will discuss why he invited Levinson, and they will both be available to answer questions from media.

Himes and Levinson will discuss higher education affordability and access, as well as their support for President Obama’s new proposal to make the first two years of community college free for qualifying students.

Every Member of Congress may take one guest to the Capitol to view the President’s annual address to Congress on the State of the Union.
