‘Hoax’ Threat Locks Down Norwalk High School: Police

A large contingent of officers are at the school after receiving a threat that was deemed to be a hoax, according to police.

NORWALK, CT — Norwalk High School was locked down on Friday after receiving a threat that was deemed to be a “hoax,” according to police.

The school was placed in a lockdown as a “large contingent” of Norwalk police officers were at the scene investigating the threat, according to officials.

“Multiple officers are with staff and students inside the school,” police wrote in a post on social media around 12:30 p.m. “Everybody IS SAFE. The school is in lockdown.”

Police later wrote “HOAX” in an update on Facebook.

In an update at 1:40 p.m., police said “everyone remains safe,” according to a post on Twitter. “Lockdown has not been lifted. Once it is, students will be released slowly and systematically as our investigation continues.”
