Lecture At Norwalk Library Jan. 25 On Exploring Natural World
"Caring for Connecticut's Beautiful Waters: Putting Drinking Water First" is presented by Anne Hulick.
NPL: Norwalk Public Library will continue its series of lectures on Exploring Our Natural World with “Caring for Connecticut’s Beautiful Waters: Putting Drinking Water First,” presented by Anne Hulick, State Director for Clean Water Action, on Saturday, January 25, at 2 p.m. in the Main library, located at 1 Belden Avenue, Norwalk.
This informative talk will explore where our drinking water comes from, and cover best practices for keeping our drinking water supply safe. Emerging issues such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) - a group of man-made chemicals - and how they affect our most vital resource, will be discussed. Hulick directs Clean Water’s Connecticut team and coordinates the Coalition for a Safe and Healthy Connecticut to pass health protective policies aimed at reducing exposure to toxic chemicals, promoting clean, renewable energy and protecting our waters. She began her career as a registered nurse, followed by spending 10 years as a nursing director. Her concern that the healthcare system’s focus on curing disease, but inadequate attention to how human impacts on the environment impair health, led her to combine nursing, health policy and the law. Hulick was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 2007, and has worked as an environmental analyst in the Air Bureau of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, and was the Environmental Health Coordinator at the Connecticut Nurses’ Association prior to joining Clean Water Action.
